Born and educated in Guernsey, John returned home after completing a degree in Philosophy at the University of Southampton and joined Ernst and Young as an auditor. Specialising in the audit of funds, investment companies and Limited Partnership structures, John qualified with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
From Ernst and Young, John moved to Fidelity Investments Limited in Surrey in a project-based role, documenting and reviewing procedures in the accounting function, implementing efficiencies and performing a feasibility study into an Indian outsourcing initiative.
Returning to Guernsey, John worked as a Manager at Credit Suisse Fund Administration Limited where he completed the Securities and Investment Institute Diploma. Working on the administration of a daily-dealing hedge fund platform John came to specialise in the administration of hedge funds and the pricing of derivative instruments.
Subsequently, John headed up an initiative to outsource these funds to third party sub-administrators. This involved preparing "Requests for information", "Requests for proposal" and performing and documenting due diligence visits of industry leading fund administrators around the globe. In addition, this role required liaising and co-ordinating the efforts of a number of interested parties and designing and implementing procedures to properly control and oversee these sub-administrators.
Since forming Offshore Consulting in 2007, John has completed a wide range of projects including an additional outsourcing initiative, and several private equity system implementations. John has also run training courses in Guernsey and Jersey on fund administration, accounting, hedge funds and derivatives.
John has strong interpersonal and project management skills, a positive approach and a sound knowledge of industry standard fund-administration procedures, financial instruments and local legislation.
